What happened to my microwave, was, the tab that holds the left bottom corner down had broken off. My husband got to the control panel, tipped it forward, cleaned the area with alcohol, and applied some double sided auto trim molding tape, and it is as good as new…I just had to give it a good cleaning! Thanks again!

Yes, you can use a soft cloth (not a paper towel, which will scratch) with mild detergent (not ammonia) but do not damage the plastic covering or the metal mesh.
